Denouement - [Name]

Part 1 of,

 what never happened and what never ended.

    "So, what's your real name?"

He asked. And that's not a weird question, since we started our relationship in a virtual world. Hiding our true identity behind someone else's. The thing that surprised me the most, is the fact that he cares enough to ask about this.

But instead of saying my real name, I said.

    "People call me by many different names, even in my real life."

Then, he changed his question.

    "Well, which one is your favorite?"

This time I answered with a bitter smile on my lips.

    "Rosie."

It's the name that I no longer use, since the day he walked out of my life. Since the day, we decided to finish the game we have played together.

The name that now, once I said it again, feels familiar yet strange.

Somehow, he seems to be startled by my answer. I don't exactly know why, but probably that's because he wasn't expecting that name as the answer.

After a moment of silence, he finally asked again.

    "Why?"

    "Because it feels right when you're the one that called it."
